Alcina

Great was the exultation in the Aachen Theatre. Jarg Pataki’s direction of Alcina shook virtually every member of the audience out of their seats. The baroque musical splendour overcame the mundanity and mediocrity of the daily grind. This is a feast for connoisseurs.

Conducted by Péter Halász, the sounds from the orchestral pit are full, the slow melancholy is alternated by dynamic prestos embracing, supporting, and accompanying the richly decorated vocal parts... This achievement was rewarded by the audience with a prolonged standing ovation.
